The Dean's Travel Fund

The Dean of Arts and Humanities offers funding to support graduate student research.

About:

Graduate students may apply for an award of up to $300 per year, in support of research-related travel to professional meetings and conferences for presenting invited papers, posters and other scholarly work. The grant may be used for travel, lodging, registration fees, and related expenses in accordance with university travel policies.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a graduate student within the School of Arts and Humanities, in good academic standing.
  • Must be in compliance with all mandatory UC trainings.

Terms:

  • Ph.D. and D.M.A. students may only receive one grant per academic year and no more than two during their academic career at UC San Diego.
  • Master’s students may only receive one grant while pursuing that degree. If they continue in a doctorate program within the School of Arts and Humanities, the grant provided during their Master's program will count towards the two grants allotted.
  • Department approval is required for each submission.
  • Travel funds will be transferred to the student’s home department.  The student’s home department is responsible for setting up travel events and processing reimbursements. If the proposed travel does not happen, the department must return the funds to the Dean's Office.

Deadlines:

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
